Every year, a healthy number of students set out for Bangladesh. There are three ways through which students can easily travel to Bangladesh. They can avail train or bus. If they want to go fast, they can avail airlines service. Expenses are very low. Necessary documents that should be carried and submitted for travelling India to Bangladesh or vice-versa: What do you need to carry for travelling from Dhaka to Kolkata? You need an:

  • Indian Visa as you are coming from the Bangladeshi side
  • Valid passport with at least 6 months of validity with some blank pages.
What do you need to carry for travelling from Kolkata to Dhaka? To book a ticket you should submit:
  • Bangladeshi Visa as you’re coming from the Indian side.
  • Valid passport with at least 6 months of validity with some blank pages.

Tickets can’t be booked online. You have to book the tickets at the Dhaka Kamalpur Railway station Reservation Counter. It is open from 9.00 to 17.00 daily. You can only book your ticket 10 days before the departure of the train. You can only buy a one-way ticket.

These tickets also can’t be booked online. Tickets can be booked from two counters:
  • Fairlie Place International Ticket Booking Counter in Dalhousie Square (Open daily from 8.00 to 20.00)
  • Kolkata Chitpur Railway Station Reservation Counter (Open only during Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 to 19:00)

If you want to travel by Bus: There are many bus services to travel from Kolkata to Dhaka. Some of them are BRTC, Shyamali, Greenline, Sohag etc. The average price of ticket is Rs. 1,200/- to Rs. 1,500/- for one person. You can book your tickets prior to the date of your journey from the counters of Marcas Street, Park Street. You can book the tickets on the day of journey also from the counter but you only get tickets according to the availability. It’s better to book the tickets. The bus takes a halt at Benapole at the border for Immigration checking. Further information you’ll get here.

  • Jet Airways: Rs. 4,846 onwards
